In 2021 Quincy player Riley Martin was drafted by the cubs in the 6th round draft. SIUE student Kenzie Martin will talk about her perspective of his journey and career. Growing up her childhood was always following her brother around to a different ball park every night of the summer. Riley played for Salem Community High school. He went on to play at Quincy University where he broke many records that were held for many years. This interview will give insight on his childhood, throughout adulthood to playing in the double A. With many season ending setbacks Martin pushed through mentality and physically and never gave up on the sport he loved. He overcame injuries and personal hardships. We will also give Martin an on phone interview and let him tell us a little more about his career and past season. We will end this podcast by asking him where he hopes to be at in the next season. Martin will also give advice to inspiring players. His dad has influenced his love for baseball at a young age. John Martin, father of Riley will talk on what he believes got him this far in his career. Having support plays such a huge role in Martin’s career. He talks about how without his fathers consistent push and positive influence he would not be where he is at today, not only in his baseball career. We hope this interview gives inspiration to all the inspiring athletes that have also had some set backs and show them you can overcome whatever you think is too big.
