With our podcast we want to talk about diversity on SIUE’s campus. There are a lot of different groups on campus, and we don’t often see groups coming together as a “community.” Everyone’s too separated off and there needs to be more inclusion on our campus. We want to talk about the pros and cons of having diversity on campus (if any) and things that need to be done to become diverse.
Before starting our podcast, we will both go out on campus and ask students and faculty if they think SIUE is a diverse campus and why, to get quotes that will be good enough to include in our podcast. Our podcast itself, will start with an introduction of who we are and possibly why we wanted to do this podcast. We will then talk about what diversity is and what we think about diversity on campus. We will work the quotes into our podcast and then further elaborate to give our quotes purpose. We will wrap up our podcast with ways to become diverse and give a summary of all the points that were made.
Questions we will ask:
- What do you think diversity on our campus?
- Do you think we’re at peak diversity or is there still more work to be done?
- Are you satisfied with the amount of diversity on campus?
- How would our campus benefit from being diverse?
Diversity is the practice of including or involving people from a range of different groups. Those groups could be gender, race, backgrounds, sexual orientation, etc. With SIUE having so many different groups of people, it would be a great idea to discuss the diversity on campus and be able to include students and faculty into our story and ask them about their thoughts and opinions and they think needs improvement.
