A new shopping center is being built in Glen Carbon which will include a Chick-fil-a, an Olive Garden, a Meijer, a car wash, and other businesses. The Chick-fil-a recently opened and has been busy since its opening. The massive center worth $70 million is expected to be completed by 2024. There are still many vacant lots that local businesses could be filling through a bidding. The recent construction of Chick-fil-a has caused a lot of traffic in the area. 4 years ago the site was meant for a different developement but the project fell through leaving behind the space for the town center.
This is newsworthy because it is a huge change to the Glen Carbon area that will bring in new restaurants and many jobs for members of the community. This is also newsworthy because the center is being put in a busy area which will affect the community and it is currently in construction.
We are going to get pictures of the construction site and we will include a collage of pictures that will show the timeline of things being built. We will also get pictures of the things that have already been built like the Chick-fil-a and the signs for the center. We are also going to get interview soundbites from workers at nearby restaurants to see the effect of the development on them. We will also get interviews from members of the community. And we will also try and interview people that are involved with the construction process to see how the process is going. Through this project, we will find out more about the construction progress and see how others feel about the new development.
