Multimedia Project

For our project, we are planning on going to new restaurants in the Edwardsville area and trying the food and drinks there, then giving reviews and our thoughts on the experience on a podcast. We could give each restaurant a rating as well. I plan on recording the audio in the audio lab and then adding pictures to the audio in the editing lab on premiere. We will take pictures of the dishes at the restaurant and the restaurants themselves. We will add intro music and transitional music during the podcast to keep it interesting and maybe some other graphics in addition to the pictures from the restaurants. A tentative timeline for our project is first creating more fleshed out interview questions and setting up interviews with staff. We will order a few items from each place and stay there for an hour or two. It will take a few days to interview and try all the spots, then we will write an intro to the podcast. After that, create a loose script and block out the order of reviews. Then we will record our audio in the audio lab and add a short outro. After that, I will edit the audio and add pictures and sound effects in the editing lab. The editing and audio recording can all be done in one day, so an overall timeline of the project should be around 3-4 days.

We also plan on interviewing at the locations. A few good interviews could be either the manager or owner, or an employee of the establishment. Another good interview could be another customer and what they think of the restaurant. We will use our phones to record the interview on location.

Here are some questions we could ask:

  • What are some of the difficulties you faced opening a restaurant?
  • What was your inspiration for opening a restaurant? How did you come up with the menu?
  • Why did you choose the Edwardsville area to open your business?

Some questions for the customers could be:

  • Do you enjoy what this restaurant has to offer?
  • What does this restaurant do that you enjoy compared to others?
  • What is your opinion on the restaurants in the area?

We think this project is worthy because everyone loves food, and it is also a current event in our immediate area. People are always looking at food reviews and trying to find the best new spots to go out and try. A few new spots that have opened recently are Blue Violet, Kimichi Guys, and Drunken Fish. Hi-Pointe Drive in just opened up this week, and that is another spot that would be good for the podcast. I will reach out to the places before we go to ask permission to take pictures and to try and set up short interviews this ownership and staff.
