SIUE Basketball: A Hopeful Season

Sean Key and Amir Lewis

Through written and recorded interviews, our readers will learn the hardships and victories that have brought the SIUE Mens basketball team to a pivotal juncture in their season. With a chance to make a run at the Ohio Valley Conference title, we hope to give the listener/reader an insight into what kind of dedication and focus is necessary for these athletes to operate at the top of their game.

Sean: After suffering a loss that shut out their chance at a conference title and ended their season, Amir and I will meet with players from the SIUE Mens Basketball team to get their opinion on the outcome of the season.

Amir: And later on we will be asking about some of the highlights of the season, biggest regrets and modifications that these players believe could be game changers for next season.

Questions:

Sean: At the beginning of the season, what did you believe was the biggest obstacle for your team?

Sean: Looking back on the season would you change your previous answer, and if so why?

Sean: From my experience playing sports in high school, I have noticed that physicality is becoming phased out of basketball. Do you feel that there has been a decrease in the allowance of “physical” play? Is the NBA to blame for their promotion of the “shoot-out” play style?

Sean: Had the previous answer affected your season, and if so how?

Sean: Taking a step back from the state of basketball and its affect on the team, Amir asked the team questions geared towards the skills and shortcomings of their teammates and how it affected their overall unit cohesion.

Amir: What was your highlight of the season and why?

Amir: If you could pick a teammate who showed the most grit, who would it be and why?

Amir: Reflecting on the season, what is one improvement that you believe would have taken you to a conference title?

Amir: If you woke up one day and was the coach of the team, what is one thing you would do to improve the squad?
